What to do
Discover the incredible biodiversity of Costa Rica and its wonderful wildlife by booking your place on the Palo Verde Boat Tour. An ecological tour that will forever remain in your memory!
Start this tour in a tourist bus that will take you through the countryside of Costa Rica, where you will see extensive sugar cane plantations. It will take you to the Palo Verde National Park, where more than 60 types of birds used the wetland or lagoon as a migratory stopover. Because of its extensive variety of wildlife, it was declared a wildlife refuge during the 1970s. It is also one of the last dry tropical rainforests that once covered most of Central America.
Upon arrival you will board a boat to navigate the Tempisque River, located in the province of Guanacaste and with a length of 90 miles, the longest in the country. You will be accompanied by an expert guide, who will inform you about the actions taken to preserve the park, as well as interesting facts about the flora and fauna that inhabit the place. This is the habitat of howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, pizotes (white-nosed coatis), American crocodiles, as well as more than 300 species of migratory birds and the famous "palo verde" tree, a true jewel of Costa Rica's nature!
